The vision of Masters in Development Studies (MDS) program is to establish itself as a hub of excellence in teaching, research, and advocacy for contribution towards building a people centric development regime that seeks to achieve a developed society in Bangladesh.

The mission of the Masters of Development Studies (MDS) program is to generate knowledgeable and create proficient and competent professionals in the field of development. The program aims at preparing graduates to understand various aspects of development theories, methodologies and practices; and enabling graduates to address developmental issues and to develop tools to resolve problems from multidisciplinary perspectives.

Build a solid theoretical ground, anchored with real-world learning, on diverse development concepts and issues, empowering students to effectively analyze and approach the increasingly complex, interdependent development challenges using a multidisciplinary framework.
(i) Increasing the understanding and analytical skills of development and its complementary and supporting fields, as well as the ability to deal with its requirements, problems and complexities.
(ii) Practical training for students in development projects: Planning, strategy, techniques and prioritization while designing and executing successful, modern development programs.
(iii) Orient the students with the development ecosystem- roles and mechanisms of major players such as national and international development agencies, financial institutions, governments, donors, research institutes, and United Nations (UN) agencies – enabling them to navigate the development landscape with confidence.
(iv) Build competence both written and verbal, in communicating empirical evidence and consolidating and critically appraising debates relevant to development issues.
